Title: Outreach & Engagement Manager

Reports to: Director of Campaign Operations & Donor Relations

Status: Full time, exempt The Outreach & Engagement Manager will be responsible for developing, promoting, coordinating and implementing the programming at the Greensboro Jewish Federation. The program areas include young adults and families, young leadership, newcomers, Jewish culture and education, and Jewish camp.

The Greensboro Jewish Federation builds community among the Jewish people of Greensboro, assuring continuity from generation to generation. Recognizing that each Jew is responsible, one for another, the Federation promotes the welfare of the Jewish people in our community, in Israel, and worldwide.

Locally, the Federation offers programming, networking, and social events, scholarships and grants; brokers community relations; advocates for Israel; and organizes city-wide religious observances and celebrations. Job Duties: Young Adults and Young Families

  • Work with Campaign Young Adult Division and the Greensboro Federation Leadership Institute
  • Implement, evaluate, strengthen, and recruit for Greensboro Federation Leadership Institute
  • Recruit for annual Young Leadership conference or appropriate national convention and lead delegation
  • Staff and work with lay committee of J-Triad partnership in cooperation with Beth David Synagogue, Temple Emanuel Greensboro and Temple Emanuel Winston-Salem
  • Act as a liaison and resource to area Hillel chapters and staff
  • Administer PJ Library in Greensboro and plan programming in coordination with B'nai Shalom Day School and PJ Parent connector

Programming and Outreach

  • Staff and plan with lay leadership the annual Triad Jewish Film Festival
  • Phone consultation and meetings with potential or current newcomers, working to engage and reach out to newcomers and potential newcomers
  • Plan annual Jewish Community Yom Hashoah Commemoration, and Yom Ha'atzmaut programming, if applicable in conjunction with Beth David Synagogue and Temple Emanuel
  • Plan and promote programs with visiting lecturers including the Jewish Book Council
  • Work with Beltsy, Moldova to expand Jewish community reach, relationships and awareness through missions and volunteer work, staffing delegations as needed
  • Promote and act as liaison and resource for Holocaust education programs such as Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Teacher Program and the ASU Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Peace Studies

Youth

  • Promote and counsel high school and college students about Israel programs such as AMHSI, March of the Living, MASA, Young Judaea Year Course and others
  • Administer and publicize local Israel Experience Grant Program and staff process including interviews and follow-up with participants and parents
  • Promote and counsel high school students and families on Jewish summer programs as well as such national Jewish programs as L'Taken, national Jewish conferences (AIPAC, UJC GA)
  • Administer grants for such programs as L'Taken, National Jewish conferences for high school students
  • Administer and publicize One Happy Camper Program and the Greensboro Jewish Federation Stanley Shavitz Camp Judaea Incentive Grant
  • Administer GJF Miriam and Abe Brenner Holocaust Education Scholarship Fund
  • Act as a liaison and resource to area Jewish youth groups (BBYO)
  • Administer any other program  funding as needed, including Simcha Choir funds
  • Staff community programming as needed based on outreach initiatives. (i.e. L'Taken, MOTL, etc)

General

  • Supervise Program Assistant
  • Prepare annual budgets for all programs
  • Work in cooperation with lay leadership to develop committee goals and meeting agendas
  • Create programming related PR and articles for website, email marketing, and newspaper
  • Supervise college intern if applicable
  • Assist with annual Campaign, affinity groups and related events as needed
  • Represent Federation at events in the general community

 

QUALIFICATIONS The Outreach & Engagement Manager shall hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a field related to management, programming, and/or planning in a nonprofit organization such as Management, Education, Community Organizing, Social Work, Jewish Communal Service, or Jewish Studies.

  • He/she shall have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Jewish Communal Service or a related field. Preference will be given to a candidate who demonstrates a full knowledge and understanding of Jewish ethics, values, family and community life as well as worldwide Jewish concerns.
  • An educational background is helpful for this position.
